So, there is not much to report. Varen added a splash of vodka to my ginger beer (sugar-free from Woolies) last night with dinner, and he's a little heavy-handed, so by the time we were supposed to be heading for gym, we were both curled up on the couch watching series. Ah well, I've got Action Cricket tonight and I'll go on my day off on Thursday instead ;)
So yes, yesterday was quiet ... aside from the Cat. While I was sitting inside, letting my buns run about on the grass, eating, I suddenly saw a dark gray shape fly over the wall. Luckily the door was open and I raced outside, scaring the cat away back over the garden wall. But Bell & Henna were not impressed and I scooted them inside with me to calm down for a bit. Bell seems quite philosophical about it and was outside again almost as soon as I was. Henna on the other hand was quite a bit more shaken (she definitely has the more nervous disposition of the two!). Sigh. So now we're really going to have to be on the look-out when they're outside enjoying the day.
Anyone know of some kind of cat-repellent I can apply to my wall and/or entire garden?

Curry powder... my mum swears by it.. stopped the cats p&*ing and P*ssing in her garden.
If you just let the cat eat the rabbits it'll have no reason to come back. Problem solved.
Or Pigeon glue.. its a sticky stuff like glue but it never dries.. it works on birds.. maybe cats too? How about spikes? Razor wire? Shot the bugger and leave its carcass draped on the wall as a deterrent to other cats? So many solutions...
@mrjones - I'm not sure curry-powder is bunny friendly. I've heard that baby powder deters ants tho. Maybe I'll sprinkle a little curry powder along the walls tho.
Sadly, if the cat can jump the wall, I'm pretty sure adding a mere few centimeters of spikes won't deter it, but I did consider it! Varen's quite keen to drop kick it ;) Me, I'm a less aggressive sort of girl ...
@jarred - they're pets. P. E. T. S. The point is to deter the cat and let the bunnies live happily and in peace :)
The thing with the curry powder is that they sniff it and it puts them off.. plus cause alot of cat sneezes.. :-)
Unwelcome cats SUCK. There's this horrible, horrible one that terrorises my little gay ginger cat and I loathe it.
If it persists, you could always spray water at it. Cats hate water.
Dude you can't let Varen drop kick the cat! It's doing absolutely nothing wrong - it's nature.
I'm with jarred on this one, solves your problem completely ;)
@mrjones - yeah, and hopefully my bunnies will have a head start when they hear the cat sneeze ;)
@tjf - if the cat stuck around long enough, water would definitely be my choice. But since it was already airborne when I saw it, I doubt it'd have helped much yesterday :( Next time, next time :)
@missm - see above comment @jarred. And I would never really let Varen do that ... although some might say he's doing absolutely nothing wrong (protecting his loved ones) - it's nature ;)
I know the best cat deterrent - dogs. Unfortunately, they're also bunny deterrents ;-)
I'm in the media - plenty of weird and wonderful press releases so... PlushPet Outdoor Pet Repellent is a granular product that is scattered over any area outdoors that you wish to protect. It's non-toxic and can safely be used around your family.
Available at your nearest Pick ’n Pay Hyper, Builder’s Warehouse, pet shop, nursery or hardware store. For more information on this product, contact Scientific Chemicals (Pty) Ltd on (011) 839-1636 or visit www.scichem.co.za
Also citronella is supposed to work on cats and dogs but not certain how bunnies feel about it!
these comments are just funny LOL
i am of no use, go with jarred i think :)
@tamara - and also the reason we got bunnies in the first place. I'm still too independent to have attention-needy pets (Varen is allergic to cats). Eventually we'll get dogs tho :)
@bb - Oooh, that is very handy to know ... although I will have to check that Pet Repellent is not equally repellent to bunnies ;)
Thanks for all the suggestions guys !!
@sweets - I'd rather not ;)
I have tried the curry powder... so far so good and I don't mind a curry scented garden :-)
Cheers Mr Jones...
@sage - nice to know it actually works :)
